The method involves detecting a geometrical pixel arrangement of monochromic printable partial image by an inline-measuring device and storing the pixel arrangement as a partial image matrix. A measuring point for an inline-regulation of an inking system is automatically or manually selected. Print image data of the selected measuring point is detected in on-line by the inline-measuring device during printing, where the inline-regulation is effected based on the detection of the print image data. An independent claim is also included for a sheet offset printing machine with a device for inline-controlling of an inking system.
