<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color management method and color management system capable of performing color management of a desired color as well as colors to be managed by adding the desired color to the colors to be managed. <P>SOLUTION: In the beginning of management, an instruction to add the desired color to colors to be managed is received, values of color characteristics on the colors to be managed and desired colors to be outputted by an image output apparatus are received to set as standard values. Moreover, during a period of management, the values of color characteristics of the colors to be managed and desired colors to be outputted by the image output apparatus are received to set as management values.
