摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for the selective reduction of nitrogen oxide comprising a paramagnetic iron(III) ion supported by a zeolite at a high ion concentration thereon capable of performing a high enough activity of the selective reduction of nitrogen oxide in a low temperature range of 300&deg;C or lower and an efficient and reliable method for preparing the catalyst for the selective reduction of nitrogen oxide. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for the selective reduction of nitrogen oxide for use in reducing nitrogen oxide by virtue of a reducing agent in an atmosphere with excessive oxygen comprises zeolite and iron carried on the zeolite, and the amount of iron as paramagnetic iron(III) ions carried on the zeolite by ion exchange is 1.0 mass% or higher in terms of metal relative to the total amount of the carrier. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
