PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using electrophotographic toner in which the extension in the life of a photoreceptor against wear, the removal of a discharge product sticking to the surface of the photoreceptor, the reliability of a cleaning blade or the like are achieved in a proper-balanced manner; and stuck of a lubricant on a surface of a charging device can be suppressed. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus uses a developer containing toner to which at least fine particles having a volume average particle diameter of 80 to 300 nm, an abrasive, and a lubricant are externally added, wherein when the volume average particle diameter of the fine particle, that of the abrasive and that of the toner are defined as A, B, and C respectively, the relation of A<B<C is satisfied. The image forming apparatus includes the charging device and photoreceptor, and spacing between the charge body and the photoreceptor is larger than the volume average particle diameter of the lubricant externally added to the toner.
