PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label printing device which can print out a label conforming to a total price display and a label conforming to a tax-excluded price display without spending costs and labor, and to provide a label printing method. SOLUTION: In the label printing device, when a print mode is set to a mode C1, a CPU calculates a tax-excluded price by using a commodity weight and a tax-excluded price rate, and a printing section prints out the label with a bar code representative of the tax-excluded price and the tax-excluded price itself. When the print mode is set to a mode C2, the CPU calculates the tax-excluded price from the tax-excluded price rate and the commodity weight, and the printing section prints out the label with the bar code representative of the tax-excluded price and a tax-included price. When the print mode is set to a mode C3, the CPU calculates the tax-included price by using the commodity weight and a tax-included price rate, and the printing section prints out the label with the bar code representative of the tax-included price and the tax-included price itself.
