APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR POWER CONTROL OF TARGET DEVICE FOR WIRELESS BROADBAND SYSTEM

A device and a method for supporting a wireless Internet service and minimizing power consumption are provided to control power supply of a target device supporting the wireless Internet service and enable the target device, connected to a host device through a dedicated interface for the wireless Internet service, to receive packet data with the minimized power consumption. A target device(230) connects a pin outputting an I/O(Input/Output) write request signal of the host device(100) with an unused dedicated I/O pin of an I/O pad(240) supporting the wireless Internet service through an inverter. The target device is connected to the host device through the dedicated interface for supporting the wireless Internet service. The target device controls the power supply by dividing the I/O pad supporting the wireless Internet service into each section corresponding to a CPU(210), a dedicated modem, and the dedicated I/O pin. The target device supplies the power to only the pad corresponding to the unused dedicated I/O pad and cuts off the power supplied to the I/O pad corresponding to the dedicated modem.
