A user-adaptive smart television using a motion recognizer and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to control a television without a remote controller by attaching a USB(Universal Serial Bus) video camera to the television. A user-adaptive smart television using a motion recognizer comprises the following parts: an input unit for recognizing motion of a user; a memory for recording each user-adaptive menu after discriminating a user by using the motion through the input unit; a controller for controlling the memory according to each user; and an output unit for outputting the contents, controlled by the controller, in an image form.
