A method and an apparatus for digital AGC(Automatic Gain Control) are provided to remove a memory structure and a related control block necessary for an existing digital AGC structure by optimizing the digital AGC of a terrestrial digital multimedia/television broadcasting(DMB-T) receiver, thereby significantly reducing a size of additionally necessary hardware. An apparatus for digital AGC(Automatic Gain Control) comprises the following parts: a detector(100) for detecting gain errors of a signal received in a receiver; a loop filter(200) for cumulating the detected gain errors; and a gain amplifier(300) which is connected with the loop filter, calculates a gain control value by generating a gain function which will be controlled, and feeds back the control value to the detector.
