A refrigerator and a control method thereof are provided to supply moisture to a food keeping chamber according to humidity measured in the food keeping chamber, thereby keeping freshness of the food kept in the chamber long. A refrigerator includes a food keeping chamber, a humidity sensor(110) for measuring humidity in the food keeping chamber, a moisture supplying unit(130) for supplying moisture into the food keeping chamber, and a control part(150) for controlling operation of the moisture supplying unit according to the measured humidity. The control part compares the measured humidity with preset target humidity and drives the moisture supplying unit if the measured humidity is lower than the target humidity, wherein moisture is sprayed in the shape of fine water drop via a nozzle(133). A water collecting unit(170) collects the moisture in the food keeping chamber, wherein the collected moisture is at least partially resupplied to the water collecting unit.
