<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body fat measuring instrument capable of easily and correctly measuring impedance in the front surface of the abdominal part and calculating a highly reliable index with respect to abdominal body fat based on the abdominal part impedance and an abdominal horizontal width. <P>SOLUTION: This instrument is provided with: an electrode support means for supporting an impedance measuring electrode for measuring the abdominal part impedance by contacting the electrode onto the front surface of the abdominal part; a horizontal width measuring means for measuring the position of the abdominal horizontal width; and an arithmetic means for calculating the index concerning the body fat, based on the abdominal part impedance and the horizontal width. Thus, an appropriate measurement state is easily obtained by only pressing the instrument against the front surface of the abdominal part without requiring the arrangement of the impedance measuring electrode and a waist measuring apparatus, etc., by holding a human body.
