PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device in which a driver scarcely feels insufficient steering assist force even when the current limit of a motor for steering assist is controlled. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device comprises a torque sensor 21 for detecting the steering torque applied to a steering member (not shown), a motor 6 for steering assist, a current control means 12 for determining the target current to pass in the motor 6 based on the steering torque detected by the torque sensor 21, and current limit means 8, 12 for temporarily limiting the target current, and the steering assist is performed by passing the target current determined by the current control means 12 in the motor 6. When the current limit means 8, 12 limit the target current, means 8, 16 for setting the rising current characteristic to the target current to be steeper than that in other conditions are provided.
