PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection-type display device capable of displaying video of high definition, while suppressing size increase and price increase of the device. SOLUTION: The projection-type display device 15 includes a light source 10, a lighting optical system 20 and a display panel 50, and a projection lens 60 and a micromirror array MEMS element 70. The display panel 50 modulates luminous flux projected by the light source 10 into an optical image, corresponding to image information in predetermined cycles. The micromirror array MEMS element 70 comprises a plurality of movable mirrors 71 arranged in a matrix form.
