PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating molten iron with which a high dephosphorize-treatment efficiency and dephosphorizing reaction effectivity can be obtained by top-blowing a dephosphorizing agent together with oxygen onto the molten iron. SOLUTION: This method for treating the molten iron is performed as the followings, that is, in the case of applying the dephosphorize-treatment to the molten iron desiliconized after tapping molten iron from a blast furnace at a converter type dephosphorization furnace, the desiliconize-treated molten iron does not remove slag generated with the desiliconize-treatment before charging from a molten iron ladle holding the molten iron into the converter type dephosphorizing furnace, or after removing a part of the above slag, this molten iron is charged into the dephosphorizing furnace and the dephosphorize-treatment is performed by injecting CaO-containing powdery dephosphorizing agent onto the molten iron from a top-blown lance by using oxygen as carrier gas. It is desirable that the desiliconize-treatment is performed with a method for charging desiliconizing agent at the charging time of the molten iron from a torpedo-car into the molten iron ladle and further, as the desiliconizing agent, it is desirable to use decarburized slag in the converter.
