APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING A SIGNAL IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM USING MULTIPLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT SCHEME

An apparatus and a method for transmitting and receiving signals in a MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) mobile communication system are provided to obtain a channel gain by allocating bits, strong on puncturing, to a channel which has a bad channel state. A signal transmitting apparatus in an LDPC(Low Density Parity Check)-PARC(Per Antenna Rate Control) MIMO communication system comprises an encoder(311), a MIMO mapper(315), modulators(317-1-317-4), a transmitter(321), and a controller(319). The encoder, if an information data stream is inputted, encodes it based on a preset encoding method and creates a codeword. The MIMO mapper maps the codeword based on a preset MIMO mapping method and creates a mapped symbol. The modulators modulate the mapped symbol based on a preset modulation method and create modulated symbols. The transmitter executes Tx processing for the modulated symbols, creates Tx streams, and transmits them through Tx antennas(323-1-323-4). The controller receives channel quality information from a signal receiving apparatus corresponding to the signal transmitting apparatus, detects each Tx antenna channel, determines an antenna to be used, and transmits Tx streams through the determined antenna.
