The generator (100) has a threshold value discriminator (101,102,103,104,105) with multiple parts coupled to one another. The discriminator has an external and internal signal input for receiving a given external input signal (111,112,113,114,115) and an internal input signal. A sum signal generator is provided for generating a sum signal from the received signals. The signal output is quantified by multiple signal quantifiers. A signal detector (120) is provided for detecting the pulsed output signals coupled with signal output, where the pulsed signals are used for producing random numbers. An independent claim is also included for a method for generating random numbers.
