PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein in CATV, access broadcasting and a selected service are transmitted by the ReMUX method, in addition to retransmission of the existing broadcastings, such as BS digital broadcasting and terrestrial digital broadcasting, so that it sometimes occurs that a network which does not use the emergency warning descriptor is viewed, and this makes it impossible to monitor the emergency warning broadcasting by using only a single tuner, at all times. SOLUTION: The CATV receiver has two tuners, QAM and OFDM. While selecting channels for regular viewing or for acquiring of specific information by one of the tuners, TMCC or TSMF signals are monitored by the other tuner to detect emergency warning broadcasting and to make a notice device operate, when the emergency warning broadcasting is detected, thus making it possible to monitor emergency warning broadcasting all the time. The CATV receiver is also equipped with a means for inhibiting the operation of the notice device during a scheduled test period of emergency warning broadcasting, and thereby improper operations of the notice device can be avoided.
