PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive rolling bearing hardly causing fretting. SOLUTION: A thrust ball bearing comprises an inner ring 1 having a raceway surface 1a, an outer ring 2 having a raceway surface 2a opposed to the raceway surface 1a, and a plurality of rolling elements 3 rollingly arranged between both raceway surfaces 1a, 2a. The inner ring 1, the outer ring 2, and the rolling elements 3 are formed of steel. In the rolling surfaces 3a of the rolling elements 3, a number of small depressions are provided with shot peening. Approximately spherical particles having a diameter of 60μm or smaller are used as shot materials for the shot peening. The particles are jetted to the rolling surfaces 3a at an injection pressure of 1 MPa or lower to form the number of small depressions in the rolling surfaces 3a. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
