<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receptacle, facilitating assembly and superior in optical connection efficiency by leveling force acting on a member held by a holder, and to provide an optical module. <P>SOLUTION: The optical receptacle X1 includes a stub 10, having an optical fiber and the holder 40 for holding the stub 10 and having a through-hole 40a for inserting at least a part of the stub 10. The holder 40 includes a slit 43 extending along the through-hole 40a.
