A plasma display panel is provided to improve light room contrast and image display performance by reducing reflection of external light without changing a structure thereof. A front substrate is used for displaying images. A rear substrate is positioned opposite to the front substrate. A barrier rib(16) is formed between the front substrate and the rear substrate in order to form discharge cells. A plurality of display electrodes are positioned opposite to each other in the discharge cells in order to form a discharge gap. A dielectric layer(28) is formed to bury the display electrodes and is colored with a first color. A phosphor layer(19) is provided in each of the discharge cells in order to form red, green and blue discharge cells(18R,18G,18B). The phosphor layer is colored with a second color as a complementary color of the first color. A plurality of address electrodes are formed across the display electrodes in the discharge cells.
