A shock absorber is provided to place the shock absorber to a reciprocating rod coaxially for precluding the bending moment from being applied to the reciprocating rod, for reducing the manufacturing cost of the reciprocating devices, and for maximizing the space efficiency of the devices. A shock absorber includes a hollow rod(12), an outer cylinder(13), an annular piston(30), and a restoration unit. The hollow rod is coaxially installed with a reciprocating rod having a mounting hole(11). The outer cylinder is axially mounted to be moved to the relatively axial direction for the hollow rod. The annular piston is divided into first and second liquid rooms(31,32), and applies resistant force to the liquid flow from the first liquid room to the second liquid room. The restoration unit is installed in the first liquid room to restore the hollow rod to the original position before the hollow rod. Gaps(33,34) are formed between the inner peripheral surface of the outer cylinder and the annular piston.
