OIL PROSPECTING SHIP WITH SET BACK AREA LOCATED IN RECESSED HULLSIDE

An oil prospecting ship with a set back area located inside the ship is provided to reduce drastically working hours without lowering the performance of the ship by keeping the height of a drill floor and increasing the lengths of a riser and a drill pipe. An oil prospecting ship with a set back area(226) located inside the ship includes the set back area, a riser(208), a drill pipe(210), a rail(232), a ballast tank(234), and side and bottom ballast(236). The set back area is installed inside a body(212) of the ship and contains the riser and the drill pipe. The rail is elongated from the set back area to a drill floor(216). The ballast tank is located at a side opposite to the set back area and is filled with ballast water corresponding to the weight of the riser and the drill pipe for balancing the ship. The side and bottom ballast is located on the external sides of the set back area and the ballast tank.
