<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL display device for improving animation visibility by generating no writing insufficiency in the whole gradation region while reducing display unevenness, and to provide a method of driving the EL display device. <P>SOLUTION: A gate driver circuit 12a rewrites a screen 34 by being synchronized to a frequency 60 Hz (60 images per second) of an input video signal. The gate driver circuit 12a successively selects an n-th pixel array (n: the maximum value of a pixel array) from a first pixel array of a display area 34 by being synchronized to a horizontal scanning synchronous signal, and applies a program current (voltage) from a source driver circuit 14 on a selected pixel array. A gate driver circuit 12b successively selects an n-th pixel array (n: the maximum value of a pixel array) from a first pixel array of the display area 34 by being synchronized to a lighting control synchronous signal different from the horizontal scanning synchronous signal of the gate driver circuit 12a. The gate driver circuit 12b selects a gate signal array 17b by being synchronized to the lighting control synchronous signal and performs on-off control of the gate signal array 17b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
