<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a testing method and powder for confirming water-wetting, capable of confirming water-wetting on a gas sensor element, even in an actual operating environment of a gas sensor. <P>SOLUTION: The test method which is used to evaluate how water has attached to the surface 10 of the gas sensor element 1, made of a ceramic and mounted on the gas sensor, when using the gas sensor for detecting a concentration of a specific gas in the gases to be measured, comprises steps of applying the powder 2 for confirming water-wetting on the surface 10 of the gas sensor element 1; placing the gas sensor, having the gas sensor element 1 to which the powder 2 for confirming water-wetting is attached, to a gas passage; causing the gas to be measured to flow in the gas passage, under prescribed conditions; and confirming the manner of water-wetting on the surface 10 of the gas sensor element 1, by observing a region where the powder 2 for confirming water-wetting is removed. The powder 2 for confirming water-wetting has a specific color in the temperature range from 100 to 1,000°C, and a melting point sublimation temperature of 1,000°C or higher. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
