PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated wire constituted of a core wire and the film made of a synthetic resin used for coating the core wire and to make the surface of the film coarse to eliminate the problem wherein, if the coated wire is knitted into a net to form a gabion, a person slips and falls violently when walks on the gabion because the film has a mirror surface and an accident such as an injury or the like occurs accompanied by the violent fall. SOLUTION: In the coated wire A composed of the core wire 1 and the film 2 made of the synthetic resin provided over the whole length of the outer peripheral surface of the core wire 1, a foaming agent for roughening the surface of the film is mixed with the molten synthetic resin used for forming the film.
