PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square secondary battery, equipped with a group of stacked electrodes, exhibiting large pressure durability and excellent deformation prevention against inner pressure of the battery even if it is repeatedly stored or used in charge/discharge cycle without decreasing inner space volume of the battery. SOLUTION: The airtight sealed square battery is composed of a group of stacked electrodes in which each of positive electrode and negative electrode is isolated by a separator put in a square flat outer can 1 with a top opening and a bottom. Recession is formed in each corner of the group of stacked electrodes and inside projections 2 are formed in four corners of the inner space of the outer can to improve the strength of the outer can.
