PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to properly adjust color balance of image data created using an image input apparatus. SOLUTION: A predetermined color area R1 is extracted from image data DA1 created with a digital still camera (image input apparatus) 50, a representative color Cp of this color area is extracted from the extracted color area R1, and a representative color Cq of the background of the color area R1 is extracted from the image data DA1. When color balance adjustment for approximating the color of the color area R1 to a target color previously set for the color area R1 is applied to the image data DA1, the color balance adjustment for approximating the color of the color area R1 to the target color is applied to the image data DA1 on the basis of the degree corresponding to a positional relation in a Lab color space (predetermined color space) which is a positional relation between a position P of the representative color of the color area R1 using a position T of the target color as a reference and a position Q of the representative color of the background.
