PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly sensitive glide head which detects projections even small in diameter for checking magnetic disks. SOLUTION: The glide head is used for a magnetic disk to find its collisions with projections and foreign matters on the disk by using a piezo-electric element mounted on the back of the slider, floating on it at a predetermined height. The piezo-electric element is a PZN-PT or PMN-PT single crystal with electrodes arranged in the single crystal orientation [001] and polarized in the same direction as the longitudinal vibrations of the slider when hitting the projections or foreign matters.
