PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mail processing apparatus capable of improving the accuracy of recognizing addresses without imposing a heavy work load on an operator. SOLUTION: The mail processing apparatus is comprised of a reading means for reading an image of a mail piece, a detection means for detecting an address entry area out of the image read by the reading means, a display means for displaying the address entry area detected by the detection means on the image of the mail piece, and a receiving means for receiving a correction input and a confirmed input of the address entry area displayed on the display means.
