<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retroreflective sign which enables the clear visual recognition of a pattern formed as a sign regardless of a daytime, early evening, or night. <P>SOLUTION: The pattern 1 is formed of a prism retroreflector which enhances the visibility of the pattern 1 in the night. A substrate 2 encircling the pattern 1 along its entire periphery has a brightness of 30 or less in terms of an L value in the Lab system prescribed in the JIS standard Z8730, the L value representing a black tone or a tone close to it. As a result, reflected light reflected from the prism of the pattern 1 and the low brightness of the substrate 2 work in cooperation to generate a combined effect that high contrast is created even in the daytime or early evening to enable the clear visual recognition of the pattern 1 as the sign. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
