<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enzyme functional electrode which transfers electrons efficiently by the electrode from a substrate through an enzyme by immobilizing the enzyme on the planar electrode, and also to provide a sensor and a fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: In this enzyme functional electrode equipped with the enzyme 1 for oxidizing a specific substrate Sub-red on the electrode 2, electrons are transferred from the substrate Sub-red to the electrode 2 through the enzyme 1. The enzyme 1 comprises a protein including a cytochrome C portion 1a originated in an alcohol dehydrogenase type II which is quinohem protein carried by a pseudomonas putida HK5 strain, and hemoferrum in the cytochrome C portion 1a is exposed toward the outside together with an adjacent amino acid. The amino acid adjacent to the hemoferrum comprises a hydrophobic amino acid and a polar non-charge amino acid, and forms a hydrophobic plane HP, and electrons are transferred from the enzyme 1 to the electrode 2 through the cytochrome C portion 1a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
