<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method which inhibits chromium in molten pig iron containing chromium from being oxidized in a holding furnace for holding the molten pig iron containing chromium, which is not subjected to decarburization smelting yet, and can easily discharge slug in the holding furnace. <P>SOLUTION: This operation method includes adding a solid-state carbon source of 0.5 kg or more per 1 ton of molten pig iron containing chromium into a holding furnace, when holding the molten iron containing chromium in the holding furnace, which has been obtained by melting a chromium source or smelting and reducing the chromium source. In the above step, it is preferable to melt the solid raw metal containing chromium into the molten pig iron containing chromium by adding the solid raw metal containing chromium into the holding furnace. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
