PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconductive wire material in which partial exotherm due to gradual increase of resistance can be suppressed when an accidental current flows, and insulation destruction due to deviated voltage distribution can be prevented. SOLUTION: In this superconductive wire material in which a superconductive layer is formed on a metal substrate and in which a metal layer is coated on the surface of this superconductive layer, the metal substrate and the metal layer are composed of metals with respectively different temperature characteristics of electric resistance, and furthermore, either one of the two has an electric resistance at room temperature of 1×10<SP>-7</SP>Ωm or more and 1×10<SP>-5</SP>Ωm or less, and the both are electrically connected.
