PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black and white heat developable photosensitive material having high sensitivity, excellent in image color tone and excellent further in storage stability. SOLUTION: The black and white heat developable photosensitive material has, on at least one surface of a support, a photosensitive layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt and a color developing agent and a non-photosensitive layer containing a coupler capable of forming a dye by reaction with the oxidation product of the color developing agent, wherein at least 30 mass% of a binder in the non-photosensitive layer is a polymer latex, and an image formed by imagewise exposing and heat-developing the black and white heat developable photosensitive material has an image density satisfying the formula (A): 0.02<Dc<D/4, wherein D represents an optical density in a range of 1.0-2.0; and Dc represents an optical density by the coloring dye at the above optical density.
