PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver in which operation complicatedness in the case of confirming program information of the next program is eliminated, and a projector provided with the television receiver. SOLUTION: The television receiver 1 is provided with a receiving part (channel selection processing part 5 and tuner 6) for receiving a television signal, a video displaying part (display device 11) for displaying a program video, a program information acquiring part (EPG information acquiring part 8) for acquiring program information, and a program information control part (control part 2) for performing control to display the acquired program information on the video displaying part (display device 11), wherein the program information control part is provided with a program information determining part (control part 2), and when the program information determining part compares a difference between an end time acquired from program time information of the currently displayed program and the present time to determine that the difference is within a prescribed time, the program information control part obtains the program information of the next program from the program information acquiring part and displays the program information together with the currently displayed program video on the video displaying part.
