PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and simple remote controller with excellent operability because of a small number of buttons. SOLUTION: A tilt sensor 20 for sensing a tilt state of a main body is provided inside the main body of the remote controller 100. A microcomputer 21 assigns a function different from the tilt state of the main body to operation buttons 22 on the basis of a sensing signal outputted from the tilt sensor 20. When the operation button 22 assigned with a prescribed function is operated, a signal transmission section 23 transmits a code signal corresponding to the function of the operation button to a video apparatus 200. The function of the operation button 22 can be switched by changing the posture of the remote controller 100 and the number of buttons can remarkably be decreased. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
