PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology whereby disturbance applied to read processing by an act of other user is prevented in a computer network including an image reading apparatus. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus provided with an original cover and connected to the computer network includes a connection means for exclusively establishing connection in response to a connection request from a computer and a lighting means that is lighted during the establishment of the connection, wherein the lighting means is arranged to the original cover.
