PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new oxetane compound that has many numbers of oxetane groups bonded in one molecule and provides a strong polymer by a cationic polymerization and its use. SOLUTION: The oxetane compound is represented by general formula (1) (R is each may be the same or different and is hydrogen, a methyl group or an ethyl group; L<SP>1</SP>is each may be the same or different and is a single bond or -(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>- (n is an integer of 1-12); X is each may be the same or different and is a single bond, -O-, -O-CO- or -CO-O-; Y is each may be the same or different and is a single bond or -O-; M is each may be the same or different and is represented by formula (2) -P<SP>1</SP>-L<SP>2</SP>-P<SP>2</SP>- or formula (3) -P<SP>1</SP>- (P<SP>1</SP>and P<SP>2</SP>are each separately selected from groups represented by formula (4)); L<SP>2</SP>is a single bond, -CH<SB>2</SB>=CH<SB>2</SB>-, -C≡C-, -O-, -O-CO- or -CO-O-).
