PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst which is used for polymerizing olefins, can give polymers having high stereoregularity in high catalyst activity and in good yields, and has good hydrogen response, and to provide a method for producing an olefin polymer in the presence of the catalyst. SOLUTION: This catalyst for polymerizing the olefin contains, as active ingredients, (A) a solid catalyst component comprising magnesium, titanium, a halogen and an electron-donating compound, (B) an organic aluminum compound represented by the general formula: R<SP>4</SP><SB>p</SB>AlQ<SB>3-p</SB>, and (C) an aminosilane compound represented by the general formula: R<SP>1</SP><SB>m</SB>HSi(NR<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>)<SB>4-m</SB>.
