PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breakage detection device for a shut-off bar capable of surely detecting the breakage of the shut-off bar even under the influence of wind. SOLUTION: Since a conductive member 3 is provided along the longitudinal direction of the shut-off bar 1, and any of the current, voltage, or electric power consumption flowing to the conductive member 3 is detected by a detection means 5, the conductive member 3 is broken when breakage is generated in any part of the shut-off bar 1, the change of any of the current, the voltage, or the electric power consumption is detected, and the breakage of the shut-off bar 1 can be surely detected. Furthermore, if the conductive member 3 is formed by connecting a plurality of conductive units 2 wherein at least two electric conductors 21 are provided in parallel in the longitudinal direction, the conductive unit 2 except the one which is broken accompanied by the breakage of the shut-off bar 1 can be reutilized.
