<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a transformed bacterium that is efficiently deleted in a large chromosome region having scores to several hundreds kb such as a biosynthetic gene cluster of a toxic substance such as aflatoxin and does not produce a toxic substance to be encoded in the region even by application of a genetic engineering operation. <P>SOLUTION: The method for preparing a chromosome region deleted strain comprises using a transformed bacterium that belongs to a filamentous bacterium of the family Trichomonadidae and has no sexual generation and an increased homologous recombination frequency by controlling a Ku gene. After transformation so that a homologous region is contained in both terminals of the chromosome region to become a deletion object, the chromosome region is deleted by utilizing the homologous recombination based on the homologous region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
