PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device capable of reducing a space for fitting an impact energy absorbing member even when the required impact energy absorption is increased, and easily changing the absorption characteristic of the impact energy in the middle of the collapse moving stroke. SOLUTION: When a movable bracket 5 is detached from a capsule 52 during a secondary collision, and guided by a guide part 22 of a fixed bracket 2 and moved (collapse movement) forward of a vehicle body, projecting parts 57, 57 of the movable bracket 5 are also guided by recessed parts 23, 23 of the fixed bracket 2 and moved forward of the vehicle body. By the movement of the projecting parts 57, 57 forward of the vehicle body, U-shaped parts (abutting parts) 63, 63 of an impact energy absorption member 6 are squeezed and plastically deformed by R parts 58, 58 at forward ends of the vehicle body of the projecting parts 57, 57 to absorb the impact energy during the secondary collision.
