OPTICAL FUNCTION FILM, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD, POLARIZER PLATE, OPTICAL ELEMENT, AND IMAGE DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a film having few appearance defect by making it possible to evenly coat it thin with a coating solution containing a non-liquid crystal material so far prone to produce appearance defects by a die coater, and to provide an optical function film, a polarizer plate, an optical element and an image display. SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing an optical function film forms an optical function layer by discharging the coating solution containing a non-liquid crystal material from a slot of a die coater having an upstream die lip and a downstream die lip to coat the base film carried along the surface of a rotating roll with the coating solution. When representing the atmosphere pressure upstream above the upstream die lip by PU[Pa], and the atmosphere pressure downstream below the downstream die lip by PD[Pa], PUand PDsatisfy the following formulas (1) and (2).
