PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a vinyl chloride-based resin slight in residual metals, slight in irregular structure, excellent in crystallinity, slight in yellowing or discoloration in its molding, and excellent in transparency, and to provide a molded form of the vinyl chloride-based resin. SOLUTION: The method for producing the vinyl chloride-based resin comprises the following process: In the presence of a vinyl chloride monomer and/or a monomer copolymerizable with vinyl chloride, a polymerization reaction is carried out using an organometallic catalyst comprising at least one aluminum-containing compound and at least one organometallic compound containing a group 4 transition metal atom. Thereafter, the organometallic catalyst is deactivated, and at least one good solvent for the vinyl chloride-based resin and an aqueous acidic or alkaline solution are added to the resultant reaction mixture containing the vinyl chloride-based resin followed by agitating and mixing them together to effect deashing.
