PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a brake pad capable of reducing squeaking of a brake. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the brake pad 10 equipped with a plate shaped friction member 12 pushed to a disk rotor rotated with a wheel and restraining rotation of the wheel is provided with a process for coating a coating 30 shielding oxygen on a sliding surface 12c of the friction member 12 including thermosetting resin before applying heat treatment in the atmosphere including oxygen. Thereby, an end of the friction member 12 is softer than other regions of the friction member. Therefore, in the circumstances where the friction member wears lopsidedly and is abutted to the disk rotor from an end 12b of the friction member 12, squeaking of the brake can be reduced compared to the case where hardness of the end is equal or harder than the other regions.
