PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generating device capable of obtaining an image excellent in composition, and to provide an image extracting device, a control method of the image generating device, an image extracting method and image extracting program, and a recording medium with the image extracting program recorded thereon. SOLUTION: The image generating device is provided with a face detecting part 40 for detecting a human face area of an object from an image picked-up by an image pickup element 11 and specifying a face position, a recommended image area setting part 41 for reading recommended composition data RD recorded in a ROM 31 and setting a recommended frame being an image area to be an extraction object according to the recommended composition data RD for specifying recommended composition while evaluating composition preference, and an image extracting part 42 for extracting an image corresponding to the recommended frame.
