PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system that can provide a lighting effect equivalent to that of indirect lighting by using a planar light emitting body. SOLUTION: The lighting system 1 has a planar light emitting body 2 to be attached to a ceiling surface A. The planar light emitting body 2 is disposed to extend from a borderline L to a wall surface B disposed adjacently with the ceiling surface A and forming an inner corner part and in such a direction as to get away from the borderline L. In the planar light emitting body 2, a light reducing layer 25 that reduces or blocks light from a light emitting portion 21 and that is formed of a coating film having a thickness that decreases with decreasing distance from the borderline L is provided on a translucent substrate 23 that allows light from the light emitting portion 21 to pass and exit therethrough. The lighting system is thereby configured so that the brightness of a front end portion of the planar light emitting body 2 located away from the borderline L is lower than the brightness of a base end portion thereof that adjoins the borderline L.
