PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat reclining device excellent in operability and safety, capable of tilting a seat back only to the front by the operation of an operation lever and locking the seat back at an optional position when a hand is released from the operation lever. SOLUTION: A locking tooth to be engaged with the locking tooth of a lock plate is formed on a bracket 3 fixed to the seat back, and a locking tooth 23 to be engaged with the locking pawl 12a of a locking member 12 is formed on a bracket 2 fixed to a seat cushion. Also, the shapes of the locking pawl 12a and the locking tooth 23 are set so as to allow only the rotation in one direction of one bracket 3 to the other bracket 2 when the locking pawl 12a of the locking member 12 and the locking tooth 23 are engaged. Further, while a lock member 4 is driven from an engaging position to a disengaging position by the operation of the operation lever 7, the locking pawl 12a is engaged with the locking tooth 23 as soon as the lock member 4 is driven from the engaging position to the disengaging position by the operation of a different operation lever, and only the forward tilting of the seat back is allowed.
