CATALYST FOR PRODUCING epsilon-CAPROLACTAM AND PRODUCTION METHOD OF epsilon-CAPROLACTAM USING THE CATALYST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for producing ε-caprolactam hard to cause the deterioration of activity in the gaseous phase Beckman rearrangement reaction of cyclohexanone oxime, and a production method of ε-caprolactam using the catalyst.

SOLUTION: The catalyst for producing ε-caprolactam is constituted by supporting a catalyst component essentially based on pentasyl type zeolite on a carrier with a geometrical surface area per volume of 4,000 m2/m3or above. In the production method of ε-caprolactam, cyclohexanone oxime is subjected to gaseous phase Beckmann rearrangement reaction in the presence of a catalyst and the catalyst for producing ε-caprolactam is used as the catalyst.
