PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent scattering of powdery and smoky toner at a development nip part, while preventing increase in the size of an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The developing device is provided with a developer carrier 62 carrying toner and performing development, by attaching toner to an electrostatic latent image on a facing image carrier 16Y; and a hollow recovery part 86 provided near the developer carrier 62 and for recovering the powder smoke of toner generated at a development nip part 74 between the image carrier 16Y and the developer carrier 62. The hollow recovery part 86 is provided with an inlet opening part 85 for introducing the powder smoke of the toner, together with air current into the hollow recovery part 86, and an exhaust opening part 112 for discharging the air current from the hollow recovery part 86.
