PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for managing resources in Java (R) environment where the order of checking whether or not the termination of each object is required is changed so that when a plurality of reference objects and terminable objects classified according to accessibility from a program currently executed are checked regarding their terminated states, resources allocated to the objects that can be accessed via the reference objects can be smoothly operated. SOLUTION: The apparatus for managing resources in Java environment includes an accessibility checking part for checking whether the objects to which memory resources are allocated can be accessed via a route set; an access path checking part for checking access paths to the objects based on the result of the check; a control part for determining the order of the access paths; and a resource releasing part for releasing the memory resources allocated to the objects by the order.
